North Devon & Torridge Climate Forum

  • Barnstaple Library Room 3B 12 Tuly St England, EX31 1DH United Kingdom (map)

The next Climate Forum will focus on community led initiatives across our area and will be held at Barnstaple Library in room 3B on Saturday 5th July at 11.00 to 1.00. Doors open 10.45. For those who can't make the physical meeting we hope to have a Zoom option available.

This is not a great time for those of us who are desperately worried about the future of our planet. Trump is busy dismantling all green initiatives in the States and our own government appears to be prioritising 'economic growth' over nature and the climate, seemingly unaware of how vital nature and the climate are for economic development.

In times like these it is even more important that we take matters into our own hands and do what we can on the individual and community level. This Forum will be an opportunity to hear about the amazing work that grass roots community groups are quietly doing across our area.

We hope to have speakers from:
Sustainable Chulmleigh
Roborough Rewilders
South Molton Ecolinks
Ashreigney and Riddlecombe Nature Recovery Group
Lyn Climate Action

all talking about the projects they are delivering.

There will be time for anyone who is not presenting to talk briefly about any local projects they know about. We are also hoping to have tables around the room for a wider range of community groups to display information about what they are doing. Time will be set aside for attendees to explore these initiatives.

We know that there is a lot of great work going on in our area that we don’t all know about so this Forum will be an opportunity to find out what others are doing, for existing projects to recruit more volunteers and to inspire others to start their own projects.

More detailed information will follow nearer the time but please put the date in your diary now!
