‘Explorers Create!’ exhibition at Barnstaple Museum

It was great to see so many people at the opening of our ‘Explorers Create!’ exhibition at Barnstaple Museum!

The exhibition showcases the passion, creativity and vision of students on our much-loved Ocean Explorers Academy programme. Since 2022, the programme has taken over 350 students to nature-rich local sites.

Through hands-on activities–from citizen science surveys and beach cleans to mindful sketching, dry-stone walling, upcycling projects, and investigating the fast fashion industry–students have been inspired to see themselves as part of nature and are empowered to be part of the solution.

Among the exhibition highlights are imaginative upcycled items created in response to local waste problems, such as a kite, lanterns, a dog coat, bags, and even a model sailboat, all featuring discarded tent fabric left behind at local campsites. The show also features students’ sketchbooks, photographs and reflections brimming with curiosity, creativity and commitment to protecting the planet.

If your business or organisation would like the opportunity to sponsor future Ocean Explorer cohorts of young people, please email us: info@earthactionnorthdevon.org

If you’re in the North Devon area, come along and see how time spent outdoors and in community with passionate conservationists has sparked both creativity and action in the region’s young people.
