Projects and Volunteers Coordinator (part-time)

Job Title: Projects and Volunteers Coordinator
Hours: 16 hours a week (rising to 24 hours if budget permits and role requires it)
Salary: £28,000 pro-rated = £11,200
Location: Flexible working with minimum of 1 day in the office (Monday is a mandatory work day)
Days of work: To suit but typically Monday - Thursday with some weekend and evening events

Job Purpose

This is a part time role supporting the various activities that Earth Action North Devon (EAND) undertakes each year - Community Cleans and Outreach at Events, including the Croyde Ocean Triathlon, EAND’s main fundraising event.

Specifically, the role will involve assisting with the organisation and delivery of EAND projects and fundraising activities, including coordinating, nurturing and supporting the volunteer base.

Who we’re looking for 

We are looking for a multitasking, organised and motivated individual to join the Earth Action North Devon team to support our varied projects and campaigns.

You will have an outgoing nature to work with our supporters and volunteers and you will be passionate about the environment and how we can connect with our community to inspire action. You will need to be flexible and ready to roll up your sleeves to take on many varied tasks - from office-based admin to setting up events or recruiting volunteers. No two weeks will be the same, and the role will evolve as the charity grows and diversifies.

Job Activities

These activities will vary depending on the needs of the projects:

  • Coordinating two large scale community clean events a year

  • Coordinating EAND event planning and set up, including scheduled Community Cleans 

  • Supporting EAND fundraising activities and events, including liaising with external event organisers and coordinating/recruiting volunteers involved in fundraising events 

  • Supporting EAND volunteer recruitment, engagement and relationship building 

  • Delivering outreach activities at public engagement events/ workshops when needed. 

  • General office and event administration tasks

You will:

  • Be a highly organised multi tasker with a can-do attitude 

  • Be an excellent verbal and written communicator 

  • Have excellent interpersonal skills and able to motivate and energise others

  • Be competent at using Microsoft Office and Google workspace 

  • Have good attention to detail and be PC literate

  • Happy to be flexible whilst maintaining a good work life balance

  • Be able to manage your own workload and priorities to agreed deadlines

  • Be confident to co-operate and liaise with colleagues, working in a professional manner at all times

  • Have a full UK driving licence

  • Have current knowledge and understanding of a wide range of environmental issues and the intersectionality between them

Skills 

Essentials. You will:

  • Have a passion for protecting the environment and a desire to make a difference in our community

  • Understand the critical importance of involving our community to help meet our charitable objects 

  • Have experience coordinating projects and/or volunteers as an employee or volunteer

  • Be proficient in using operational systems such as Microsoft/Google Suite 

  • Be a forward thinking team player with a ‘can do’ attitude 

  • Be able to manage your own workload and priorities to agreed deadlines

  • Be confident to co-operate and liaise with colleagues, volunteers, general public and stakeholders 

  • Work in a professional manner at all times

Desirable

  • You will have experience working or volunteering in the environmental and/or charitable sector
